Get that glorious glow – Sheet masking

I’m starting a series called ‘Get That Glorious Glow’. It’s a series of posts sharing with you tips on how to achieve dewy & glowy BARE skin.

So firstly, I’ll talk about… SHEEEEET MAAAASK!!!! They’re something that I’ve been doing 2-3 times a week. They are absolutely awesome, let me tell you why:

  1. They moisturize. My skin used to be dry and flaky, but now it’s amazingly soft and supple! Concealer used to cake up on my face between my skin flakes, but it applies so smoothly now.
  2. They are so relaxing! The scent, the cooling effect and the fact that you have an excuse to just chill for 20 minutes
  3. Contain different active ingredients to brighten, nourish, moisturize etc. Take your pick!

Well, enough of the reasons, let me show you some masks that I have been enjoying!

Etude house therapy air mask

vsco-photo-1-6.jpg

Contains rose extract and niacinamide, which helps to whiten skin. Use for brightening and moisturizing effect. This mask is a comfortable cotton that clings to the face. It has a mild scent, very relaxing in my opinion. Out of all the ingredient choices, the lemon and Rose masks have the best effects on me. My skin becomes significantly brighter after using them.

Ingredients list on CosDNA, has nothing that particularly scares me.

Would I purchase again? Yes, these masks are affordable enough to use daily and produces results!

Klairs rich moist soothing mask

This Klair’s masks has a luxurious thick cotton, soaked in creamy and thick essence. It’s definitely more luxurious than your normal everyday brands like Etude House or Innisfree. This mask provides immense hydration and the next morning, I have a natural and beautiful glow! I purchased them on Wishtrend: 25 for USD23.48. Best price I’ve seen so far!

(Ingredients on CosDNA).

Would I purchase again? YES! It’s a higher-end mask at an affordable price and I love it!

Shelim Ultrahydrating essence mask

This Shelim mask has a thin cotton sheet that adheres tightly to the face. The essence is however quite watery and dries out quite quickly. It’s very cooling upon application, and quite moisturizing. It’s not the best mask, but it’s affordable (AUD$1.60).

Would I purchase this again? Probably not, I’d rather get the Etude House Therapy Air mask, since they’re about the same price!

Welcos Jeju natural volcanic mask

img_0367.jpg

This is another everyday type of mask. It says for ‘pore care & sebum control’. It doesn’t really decrease pore size or control sebum, but it is very moisturizing! The only thing with this is that it contains parabens – and that’s something I try to avoid in my skincare products.

(Ingredients list on CosDNA).

Would I purchase again? No, because it contains prabens. What a pity, because this is such an affordable mask, which comes with sooooo much essence, and also moisturizes my skin very well.

Etude House 24K Gold Therapy Black Pearl Mask

img_0368.jpg

Hydrogel maks are awesome because you can leave it on your face longer (the essence does not evaporate as quickly) and also they fit better on my face. This Etude House one comes soaked in so much essence you can actually wash the mask then soak it again for a second use. I like how lightweight the essence feels, and how quickly it absorbs into my skin. It’s also very cooling upon application. But I don’t really see my skin brightening after using this mask. It’s sold on ebay for AUD$5.41 (quite pricey for one time use).

(Ingredients list on CosDNA).

Would I purchase again? No, honestly, it’s not the best brightening mask out there. The Lemon Therapy Air Mask from Etude House has better effects than this. I only love this for its hydrogel material and cooling effect.

Review: Tony Moly Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Lotion

vsco-photo-1 (2).jpg

Are you one of those people that just gravitate towards all things green tea? Well, you’re not alone. The minute I saw this Green Tea Watery Lotion from Tony Moly, my insides screamed (that sounds quite weird)! I was looking for a face cream that was lightweight yet moisturizing. Then I came across this product and also the Innisfree Green Tea Balancing lotion. But this Tony Moly one was about half the price. So I decided to go for the cheaper one first! I have never tried the Innisfree one, so that may be something I’ll try next.

But let’s talk about this Tony Moly lotion! It contains 100% pure green tea ferment extract (instead of distilled water), hence providing moisture and antioxidants to the skin! I have used this lotion for about 6 months and I must say I love it very much. In fact this was the first korean skincare product I bought.

Physical appearance

It comes in a 160ml pump bottle. Cute & compact! It smells like a mild version of a cup of green tea, so if you’re a green tea fan like me, you’ll love it! I love it when skincare products are not drowned in fragrances, this one has the perfect intensity in my opinion.

Application & feel

The lotion is not drippy, but not thick like a cream. It’s very lightweight but provides just enough moisture to make your skin plump. It has a cooling effect after application, which I love!

Results

I’ve had this lotion for about 6 months now and I must say, I do love it lots! When I first started using it, I felt it was a little too lightweight for me because I have extremely dehydrated skin. The first few times I used this, my skin still remained flaky But after a week I can see some slight improvement. Now after about 6 months, all signs of flakiness are gone!

Ingredients

This lotion is free of parabens and according to CosDNA‘s  everything is pretty safe! (Click the link for full ingredient list).

How to use

I use it as my last step in my skincare regime. After facial oils & serums, I spread on a good layer of this lotion. I use it mostly at night, but it is light enough to use in the morning too! I just don’t because I have another face cream to use up.

After almost 6 months of use, I’m still left with about half of it, which can probably last me a good 4 more months (or even more!).

I purchased it on ebay from Roseroseau for AUD$14.50. Honestly, I think it’s quite value for money!

Rating: 8/10

Would I repurchase? I’m always wanting to try new products, so I probably won’t repurchase it!

How I get ready fast

It’s the morning again and you have to rush off to work or lecture. Who has the luxury of 30 minutes to get ready? But you have to look presentable somehow… Here are my few tips to help you get ready quickly in the morning, when you’re still half asleep!

IMG_0361.JPG

Start off with a clean & radiant canvas – Cleanse. Tone. Hydrate

This is the most crucial part. Never overlook skincare’s importance! Start with a smooth canvas and your make up will apply flawlessly. In the morning, a foam cleanser is good for getting rid of the oils produced throughout the night, plus it gives me a morning perk! Next, I mist my face with toner (have been using the Cosrx AHA/BHA one).  While waiting for it to absorb in, I get changed into my outfit. Then, moisturize!

IMG_0359.JPG

Mix BB cream and moisturizer/ face oil for a dewy look

Combine BB cream with moisturizer (or oil even – I use rosehip oil!). This creates a dewy look when applied. Use a beauty blender, or even just your fingers to pat it in. Lastly, cover up any discoloration of your skin with a concealer.

Brush on bronzer for a healthy look and emphasize the V-line of your chin

Lightly swish on bronzer using the 3 method (side of face) – cheekbones, temples & jawline. Lastly, apply bronzer on the eyes, for a quick and natural eye look.

Add a quick flush to your cheeks and lips!

Use a lip tint or lipstick and dab it on the apples of the cheek. Then blend to keep it natural. Use that same lip color on the lips and you’re ready to head out!

‘No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up!’

Have a good one, friends!
